Primary Purpose:
To develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned Spanish instruction that fosters language acquisition, cultural understanding, and communication skills. The teacher will create a positive classroom environment, support all learners, and contribute to the overall success of Abernathy High School through effective teaching, relationship-building, and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Spanish or eligible for certification

ESL certification (preferred)

Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish language
Experience:
Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the TEKS for Spanish I, II, and potentially upper-level courses.

Foster an immersive language environment that integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Incorporate engaging instructional strategies, including technology, music, and cultural projects, to build student interest and fluency.

Assess student learning regularly and adjust instruction to meet student needs.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff.

Support extracurricular or schoolwide events as needed and participate in campus PLCs.

Establish a classroom culture that supports student success, high expectations, and mutual respect.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical alignment and instructional consistency across levels.
